if you have chosen Precious Matter for your book club - thank you.

I have some questions that might provoke some lively debate!

If a child has a unique gift that is misunderstood how would you deal with it?

Many characters in Precious Matter share their name with a character in the bible. Who are they? And what characteristics do they share with their namesakes?

Can you name the planets in our Solar System? In order?

Do you have a first aid kit at home at the ready should someone have an accident?

Is Wilfie Christ?

Can you be in control of your life?

Were patients healed by miracles? By Dorcas? By Peter? Do you believe in miracles?

Could you deal with being in Reconstruction?

Literary links: Where are the sunless seas and caverns measureless to man? Who wrote of the venerable hardness of damson cheese? Who wrote about the homeless, starving wretch?

Do you believe we will one day have villages in space?

Do you think Weston and Miriam will make it? Franklin and Susie? Mr Chillworth and Mrs McDuff? Peter and Agatha?

If you were Agatha would you be able to forgive yourself?

What does ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they shall be like wool’ mean to you?

In both Precious Matter and today’s world there has been a natural disaster. Which government has dealt better with the aftermath?

There are no bad characters in Precious Matter. Discuss
